Inclusive spaces at UCalgary
The University of Calgary is home to a large and diverse community of students, staff and faculty. If you're new to campus and are looking for spaces where you can find support, friends or volunteer, here's a list of some inclusive spaces you can get to know:
- The Q Centre (SU Centre for Sexual & Gender Diversity) provides a safe space for the LGBTQA+ community and runs various programming such as a scholarship program, sexual and gender wellness events, and social events.
- Faith & Spirituality Centre (FSC) promotes a community that is inclusive of various religions and spiritualities. Through numerous workshops, seminars, and newsletters, students can develop religious literacy and connect with religious leaders specific to their beliefs.
- Writing Symbols Lodge supports the success of Indigenous UCalgary students and offers a welcoming environment for the UCalgary campus community to learn about Indigenous communities and develop strong social networks and encourage learning about Indigenous cultures.
- Student Accessibility Services seeks to create an accessible and equitable campus community for all students. Students seeking accommodations for classes or exams can access their services to receive support. Tip: If you need academic support, like writing, planning for success in your classes and help with scholarship applications, you can also visit the Student Success Centre.
- Women’s Resource Centre strives to promote equality in the campus community and help students gain practical skills through peer support sessions, events and other programs.
Beyond these inclusive spaces, there are tons of inclusive programming offered by Students’ Union clubs and the Graduate Students’ Association.
