Thank you, Stephen Samis

The O’Brien Institute for Public Health would like to thank Stephen Samis for his contributions during his time as Associate Scientific Director, Policy and Partnerships, leading the Centre for Health Policy.

Since joining the Institute in 2024, Stephen brought deep expertise and a collaborative spirit to the role, helping guide the Centre through an important period of growth. During his tenure, the Centre supported the recruitment of its nominee for a Health Policy Tier 1 Canada Research Chair, welcoming Dr. Mike Law, launched a new policy brief series on community-based social innovations in partnership with the Health Equity Hub, and introduced a province-wide seminar series to strengthen policy-focused education and collaboration across Alberta. He also played a key role in overseeing the Centre’s strategic planning process, helping to shape a clear and ambitious path forward.

We thank Stephen for his leadership and wish him the very best in his continued work advancing health and social policy in Canada.
