Health GIS Day 2022 - Call for Abstracts

CALL FOR PAPERS

WHAT IS IT? “Health GIS: STAR (Spatial Thinking in Applied Research)” is a GIS Day event, that will promote and showcase GIS research in Health and other applications.

WHO IS ORGANIZING IT? It is organized by the Geography of Health and GIS Analysis research group, with the O’Brien Institute for Public Health (OIPH)

WHERE AND WHEN IS IT? It will take place online through the University of Calgary O’Brien Institute of Public Health on November 16th, 2022.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: We invite abstract submissions for oral presentation at “Health GIS: STAR”. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the organizing committee members. Accepted abstracts will be published electronically as Proceedings of 2022 “Health GIS: STAR”.

ABSTRACT FORMAT AND LENGTH: Submitted abstract should be maximum of 250 words and should be structured, i.e., contain an Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion (or Work in progress) section. Please do not include figures, tables, or reference list. The presentation will be 10 minutes long.

IMPORTANT DATES: Abstract should be submitted by October  7th to Rizwan Shahid with the subject heading Health GIS (rizwan.shahid@ahs.ca). Authors will be notified by the organizing committee two weeks after the closing date. Further instructions for poster format and oral presentation will be provided.

RELEVANT (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVE) TOPICS: GIS research on a variety of applied topics will be considered. The following list provides examples of relevant topics. The list is not exhaustive and potential topics are not limited to those listed below.

  • Environmental applications of GIS research
