Student Opportunities
Fall & Winter Assistantships
We recruit undergraduate and graduate students at UCalgary to support aging-related projects led by our Centre. Students with an interest in aging are encouraged to ask about available opportunities. The start date, duration, and weekly hours of these assistantships will vary depending on the project and available funding. Most of these assistantships offer paid employment.
Summer Assistantships
We recruit undergraduate students at UCalgary to support aging-related projects led by our Centre, most of which take place during the summer. Preference is given to students who have completed at least two years of full-time study and who demonstrate an interest in aging. These assistantships usually provide paid employment from May 1 to August 31. Students interested in these opportunities should follow the steps outlined below.
Contact us
Contact us by December to find out if opportunities will be available for the upcoming summer and to learn about potential projects. If opportunities are available, be ready to provide a current resume and contact information for your references.
Apply for funding
After confirming available opportunities, apply for internal and external funding to help cover your compensation. Most funding applications are due in January or February and often require input from a supervisor, as well as signatures from faculty or department leadership.

After your funding application has been reviewed and a decision is made, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork to complete the hiring process.
