Academic Lead
Dr. Jayna Holroyd-Leduc
Jayna is the Academic Lead of the Centre on Aging at the University of Calgary. She is an academic geriatrician, Professor, and Head of the Department of Medicine at the University and Alberta Health Services (AHS) Calgary zone. Her research utilizes knowledge translation science to improve care for older adults. She holds the University of Calgary Brenda Strafford Foundation Chair in Geriatric Medicine. Jayna plays a leadership role within the Canadian Frailty Network, and was previously an Associate Editor for the Canadian Medical Association Journal (2010-2020). She was also the former Head of the Division of Geriatric Medicine (2016-2020) within the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary/AHS Calgary zone, Medical Director of the AHS Calgary zone Specialized Geriatric Services (2016-2020), and Scientific Director of the AHS Seniors Health Strategic Clinical Network (2012-2015).

Manager
Dr. Chantelle Zimmer
Chantelle is the Manager of the Centre on Aging at the University of Calgary. She has multidisciplinary training in the social and health sciences. Her primary research interests are improving the social participation, social inclusion, health, and well-being of equity deserving populations. Most of Chantelle’s work with older adults is focused on age-friendly communities, age-friendly universities, and healthy aging. She has provided leadership for academic and community associations by serving on various boards and committees, including the Alberta Association on Gerontology, as well as for non-profit organizations working as a consultant. Chantelle holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor appointment in the Faculty of Kinesiology.

Executive Director
Catherine Laing
Catherine is the Executive Director of the Centre for Learning, Innovation & Quality (CLIQ) at the Brenda Strafford Foundation. She is a dedicated leader with a strong track record of driving transformative change through collaboration, innovation, and community engagement. With a deep commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals and fostering inclusive environments, she has taken the lead in diverse projects across multiple sectors. Catherine has created impactful programs and established lasting relationships with community groups, funders, politicians, and various organizations. She is passionate about fostering positive change and connecting with those that share the same vision.

Research and Innovative Practice Manager
Jenna Naylor
Jenna is the Research and Innovative Practice Manager for the Centre for Learning, Innovation & Quality (CLIQ) at the Brenda Strafford Foundation. She has a Master’s degree in Health Leadership and Policy in Seniors Care from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Western University. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer and is currently a Board of Director for Unison. Jenna has led community initiatives aimed at reducing ageism and creating inclusive environments that support the health and well-being of older adults.

Research Coordinator
Michelle LeBlanc
Michelle is a Research Coordinator for the Centre on Aging at the University of Calgary. Her educational background in Kinesiology and Gerontology has allowed her to explore varied professional roles in the fields of corporate wellness, personal training, research with the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging, community relationship liaison, and recreation in long-term care. Her research interests include motivational dimensions of physical activity participation, creating innovative approaches to health promotion, and building community in outdoor recreation.

Project Coordinator
Lindsay Morrison
Lindsay is a Project Coordinator for the Centre on Aging at the University of Calgary. She has a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology specializing in health, exercise, and sport psychology from the University of Calgary. Lindsay’s work with older adults has focused on supporting active and healthy aging through engagement in group physical activity, age-friendly cities and communities, and physical literacy. Lindsay is interested in innovative and collaborative approaches to health promotion, supporting age-inclusivity initiatives, and exploring the benefits of community dance for older adults.
