Our Membership
Members of the Centre for Health Policy are dedicated to advancing our Centre’s goal, engaging in policy research, and promoting awareness of our initiatives. Our membership offers opportunities for collaboration, access to funding, and opportunities to contribute to a growing network of health and social policy experts.
Membership Categories
We offer two levels of membership and a community partnership opportunity:
o Members: Members have been or are currently active in the Centre’s work and agree to be called upon to contribute to initiatives of interest.
o Affiliate Members: Affiliate members self-identify as working in the field of health and social policy and have an interest in engaging with the Centre.
o Community Partners: Community partners include organizations, advocacy groups, governments, and individuals with lived experience or expertise in health and social policy.
Membership Benefits & Expectations
By joining the Centre for Health Policy, members gain access to:
o Eligibility for Centre financial supports, such as travel awards, research grants, and knowledge mobilization activities.
o Opportunities for collaboration on research, policy development, and knowledge mobilization.
o Invitations to Centre events, workshops, and policy discussions.
o Regular updates through newsletters featuring funding opportunities, events, and relevant policy discussions.
o A central hub to connect with peers and experts in the policy space.
In return, members commit to:
o Receiving email communications from the Centre.
o Engaging in Centre initiatives, including transdisciplinary research, knowledge translation, and community engagement activities.
o Serving as a resource to peers through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, or committee participation.
o Assisting in raising awareness of the Centre and fostering its financial support.
o Being responsive to media inquiries and other opportunities to contribute their expertise and views in public fora.
o Acknowledging the Centre in grant applications, publications, and presentations, where applicable.
Affiliation & Funding Eligibility
To be eligible for Centre financial supports (such as travel awards, research grants, or policy funding), applicants must be an active member with the Centre. By applying for funding, individuals agree to maintain their affiliation as a Member, Affiliate Member, or Community Partner for the duration of the award.
Privacy & Information Use
The Centre for Health Policy is committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of the personal information it collects. By submitting a membership form, applicants confirm that they have read the O’Brien Institute’s privacy statement and consent to:
o The filing and storage of their personal information.
o The display of their profile (name, degrees, affiliations, research interests) on the Centre’s website.
o The inclusion of their contact details (email, phone number) in the Centre’s secure membership database to facilitate networking.
o The use of their email for Centre-related communications.
