The Department of Community Health Sciences and the O’Brien Institute for Public Health presents:

Pathways to Healing: An Indigenous, Local & Global Health Office initiative to catalyze development in critical Indigenous health education

 

Description:  Members of the Indigenous, Local & Global Health Office will share the innovative nature of the Pathways to Healing initiative, including the need for Indigenous health education at a systems level, progress to date and how decolonial practice is embedded into the process. A description of how to engage with the group and apply for funding will be included.

 

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the need for increased and enhanced Indigenous health education to impact Indigenous health outcomes.

  • Identify ways in which the Pathways to Healing initiative aligns with the CSM mandate to respond to the TRC health related calls to action and the Indigenous Health Dialogue.

  • Understand ways in which to engage with the Indigenous, Local & Global Health Office and the Pathways to Healing initiative.

Pamela Roach is Assistant Professor in Family Medicine and a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. She is the director, Indigenous health education in the Indigenous, Local and Global health office.

Lynden (Lindsay) Crowshoe MD is a Blackfoot primary care physician and researcher, member of the Piikani First Nation, Associate Professor of Medicine and Assistant Dean Indigenous Health at the University of Calgary (UC) Cumming School of Medicine (CSM).

Dianne Mosher

Dianne Mosher

Dianne Mosher is the past Division Head of the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Calgary and a rheumatologist with over 30 years of experience treating patients and conducting research.  She is currently the Associate Dean of the Indigenous, Local and Global Health Office at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary.

Kate Dunn

Kate Dunn is a Research Associate with the Indigenous Health team in the ILGH Office. She is a member of Mississauga First Nation and a doctoral candidate.

Holliston Logan

Holliston Logan

Holliston Logan is the Indigenous Health Program Coordinator at the Indigenous, Local, and Global Health Office. She is a Michif iskwêw and a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, with many Indigenous community involvements external to the University of Calgary.

This event is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. If you are a regular attendee, please keep track of your attendance.
