Farewell and best wishes to Dr. Katrina Milaney
Today, we say goodbye to an important member of the O'Brien Institute core team, Dr. Katrina Milaney, as she takes on a new role as associate vice president (research) at the University of Calgary.
Since early 2022, Dr. Milaney has been our associate scientific director (population health), making significant contributions to our institute. She led the social and structural vulnerabilities portfolio, secured a generous anonymous donation of $500,000 for vital initiatives, and transformed the portfolio into the Health Equity HUB, which will officially launch at our Fall forum, A healthier future for all: Mobilizing health equity research into action, on Nov. 22, 2023. Most recently, she has served as the institute’s interim scientific director as we search for a new scientific director.
In her various roles, Katrina championed research excellence and collaboration, aligning with our strategic plan's healthier populations area of focus. Her work has been instrumental in advancing health equity, a cornerstone of our institute's mission and vision.
The Health Equity HUB will stand as a testament to Katrina's commitment to our core values, propelling us toward national leadership in health equity.
As interim Scientific Director, Katrina provided invaluable guidance during our search for a new director. Her dedication and support have been crucial during this transitional period, and she will continue as interim Scientific Director until the new Scientific Director is in place.
We will miss Katrina's engagement, listening ear, and unwavering support as she departs. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Milaney on her new position and in wishing her success in her future endeavors.
Thank you, Katrina, for your dedication and lasting impact on our institute.
