The O’Brien Institute welcomes Talha Zafar
The O’Brien Institute for Public Health welcomes new business operations manager Talha Zafar. Talha joins the Institute from the University of Alberta where he worked in performance management and management accounting.
Talha has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is pursuing a chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation, as well as a master of business administration (MBA).
When not focusing on his studies, Talha enjoys traveling, reading, watching sports, Netflix, and spending time with family. He is also a part-time photographer.
The business operations manager supports the operations of the O’Brien Institute, its component groups, units, and programs, through the coordination and prioritization of wide ranging organizational, management, and financial activities.
In his new role, Talha is looking forward to supporting the important, internationally recognized public health work being done by the O’Brien Institute and its members. He says the position not only matches his career aspirations, but also provides him a chance to use his financial expertise and performance management to improve the already great operations at the O’Brien Institute.
*Note from the O’Brien Institute Core Team: We know he’s a fan of soccer, but we haven’t yet asked Talha where his Alberta hockey loyalties lie. Until told otherwise we will assume it’s with the better team that plays at the Saddledome.
